ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥

ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ held its 2021 Entrance Ceremony on Saturday, April 3, 2021 ¡ª welcoming a total of 3,869 new students.

To halt the spread of COVID-19, the ceremony was divided into two sessions: one in the morning for undergraduate and advanced course students (venue: Higashi-ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ Sports Park), and the other in the afternoon for graduate students (venue: Satake Memorial Hall, Higashi-ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ Campus). Only newly-enrolled students participated in the ceremony. The event was live-streamed on YouTube.

In his speech, ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ President Ochi remarked, "University admission itself is not the end goal; rather, it is just the starting line. You are living in an era where ¡®what you have learned¡¯ is more important than the university¡¯s own brand. As you are at the starting point, I would like you to think about what you are going to study at ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥."

"In terms of education and research, in 2014 ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ was selected as one of 13 universities for the ¡®Top Global University Project¡¯ (top type), and in 2018, it was selected as one of 13 universities for the ¡®WISE (Doctoral Program for World-leading Innovative & Smart Education) Program¡¯. ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ is the only university in Chugoku and Shikoku that has been selected for these projects. As you can see, ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥ is highly valued as one of the leading comprehensive research universities in Japan. So, I would like you to be very proud of being able to study at this university."

This year, a total of 3,869 students ¡ª including 2,481 undergraduate and advanced course students and 1,388 graduate students, started their university life.
